History (none) The Vulcan statue in Birmingham, AL used to hold a neon torch that glowed green, unless there was a traffic fatality when the color turned red for 24 hours. In 2003, the torch was replaced with a spearpoint as originally designed. The "black flame" S-1 features the original spear point, but was rejected since people were more familiar with the torch that was in place in 1976.
