Council History

Organized in 1921 as North Bergen County Council headquartered in Hackensack, NJ, the council changed its name to Bergen Council in 1969. In 1997 it absorbed Ridgewood - Glen Rock Council and part of Tamarack Council before merging in 1998 with Essex, Hudson Liberty, and Passaic Valley Councils to form the Northern New Jersey Council 333.
