Fargo Council 429 was organized in 1920 and changed its name to Red River Valley Council 429 in 1925. In 1930 it absorbed Park Region Area Council 294, and in 1974 it merged with Lake Aggasiz Council 430, Great Plains Area Council 431, and Missouri Valley Council 432 to form the Northern Lights Council 429.
