Originally organized as Riverside Council 45 in 1919, the council changed its name to Riverside County Council 45 in 1920. In 1944, the name was changed to Riverside County and Redlands Council 45, but only for a year. In 1945, the name reverted to Riverside County Council 45 until it merged in 1973 with Arrowhead Area Council 48 to form the California Inland Empire Council 45.
