Section NE-6 was formed in May 1982 when five councils and lodges from the newly created Area SE-9 were moved to the Northeast Region and became Area NE-6, along with the Transatlantic Council (Black Eagle Lodge). Shortly after the 1988 conclave, the Northeast Region realigned areas and three additional lodges were added to NE-6. After the 1994 conclave, the Northeast Region re-aligned and consolidated to four areas; the majority of the lodges became Section NE-4C starting with the 1995 conclave.
