R Series Symbolism:

Circular Shape: Living circle of friendship

Three Green Circles: Represent the three honors in the Order. Outer (Ordeal), Middle (Brotherhood), Inner Shield (Vigil).

Bow, quiver and arrow: The traditional implements of the Indian.

Tomahawk: Strong determination to put forth high ideals.

Calumet: Friendship and companionship. (A Calumet is a long-stemmed, ornamental pipe used by North American Indians for ceremonial purposes, a “Peace Pipe”).

Out by 1952. Put on neckerchief that was distributed to Executive Committee Members.
Specific Information: Right slanted white twill background. Feathers on ax touch each other. Ears on bear separated widely, the bear’s eye is open. Calumet on right, feathers together. Quiver is narrow. Small square mesh back on patch. No fleur-de-lis. Varieties exist, green circle can be wide or narrow. Lettering of WWW can be narrow or wide.
