In 1948 North Carolina was in the midst of a polio epidemic. NC Arrowmen were told not to attend the National Order of the Arrow Conference held at Indiana University. The 1948 Area I Fellowship Meeting was canceled. Patches and neckerchiefs made for the event were distributed to the lodges.
