Area NE-6 was named the Mid-Atlantic Area between 1982 and 1988. The initial war shield patch (X1) was created in 1989 with that name. The patch was updated to replace the outdated area name with "Boy Scouts of America". The X2 issue has a number of minor variations in the position of the arrow.
